Following Gmail and Docs, Google’s Gemini AI assistant is now integrating into both the Android and iOS Google Drive mobile apps, revolutionizing file management. This integration will allow users to directly ask questions about their files and folders and receive conversational answers. Here are the details.
Gemini is being integrated into Google Drive apps
This innovation will completely transform the way you interact with your Drive files on your mobile device. Here’s what you can do with Gemini on your mobile device:
- Summarize: Instantly summarize information from a single file, an entire folder, or multiple files.
- Quick Information Retrieval: Learn key information about a project or topic in seconds, without having to find and read individual documents.
- Folder Inquiry: Ask questions about the contents or status of folders.
- Find Files and Folders: Quickly locate a file or folder you’re looking for.
- Image Analysis: Get summaries of your photos and ask questions about them.
Gemini will be accessible from multiple locations on mobile apps. You can access these features from the top right corner of the app (especially for asking questions about folders), the document viewer, and the overflow menus. You’ll also see instant AI suggestion widgets at the bottom of the screen, such as “Summarize this file.”
All of these access points will open a subwindow where you can enter commands and review responses. This powerful AI feature is available to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers, as well as users of the following Workspace enterprise plans:

Gemini in the Google Drive mobile app will gradually begin rolling out to all users over the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Google is integrating Nano Banana, its AI-powered image editing tool, into Slides and Vids.
